Lagavulin - 20 Year Old (Feis Ile 2020)

Bottled at: 54% ⁣⁣⁣⁣

Cask Type: Refill & PX/Oloroso treated hogsheads.⁣⁣

My tasting notes 📝⁣⁣⁣

Nose. Soft Peat, Vanilla, Black Plum and Biscuit.⁣⁣

Palate. Rich Molasses, Honey Roast Fig and Cinnamon.⁣⁣

Finish. Cream, Tobacco, Walnuts and Marzipan.⁣⁣

This twenty-year-old Lagavulin opens with a faint note of peat which transmits a slightly musty and earthy aroma. Next, a vanilla essence dispenses an aromatic and fragrant accent to the whisky. Now, an uplifting and fruity fresh black plum note is included. An additional biscuit aroma, sufficiently adds to the smell of the whisky.⁣⁣

The palate is deeply rich with dark molasses contributing a bitter and robust taste. Next, a wonderfully sweet and toasted, honey roasted fig flavour. A big amount of spicy cinnamon is now presented, providing the perfect accompaniment to the already rich and sweet flavours going forward. ⁣⁣

The finish on this special Lagavulin begins with a creamy texture and taste. Next, a deliciously nutty walnut note fades into a dense, chewy and leathery tobacco flavour. Additionally, a final note of marzipan is what completed this one. ⁣⁣

My opinion 🗣 - "A really desirable whisky, which offers usual Lagavulin flavours. Those unique and distinctive flavours of Islay unite solidly with different yet dramatic notes which expand the profile further. The pricing was a bit inflated on this one but it's your own personal preference whether you think it's worth it or not."⁣⁣ ⁣⁣
