@fettercairn say - 'Our 18 Year Old annual limited release, has been created using a handpicked selection of first fill and refill ex-bourbon American white oak casks and then finished in responsibly sourced 100% Scottish oak casks. As our new make spirit evolves in this unique cask duo, it creates balance and brings a beautiful richness and depth to our tropical distillery house character.'

My tasting notes. 📋

Nose. Tahini, White Choc, Cinnamon and Cirtus.
Palate. Fruit Cake, Coconut, Oak and Butterscotch.
Finish. Ginger, Sweet Malt, Grape, Herbs and Nuts.

The 18-year-old Scottish Oak finished whisky began with a distinct peanut aroma reminiscent of tahini. Then came a creamy and milky white chocolate smell, followed by some spicy elements that produced a zingy sensation as the scent progressed. An uplifting lemon smell then cut through in the background.

The palate was full-bodied, with flavours of fruit cake and an exotic coconut vibe that I appreciated. Additional notes included an oaky wood flavour that developed well. Then a butterscotch flavour explosion was a fantastic and unique flavour amplification.

The long finish began with a fiery and pungent ginger that was toned down with a sweet sweet malt. Following that, grapes provided some much-needed fruitiness. Herbal flavours like rosemary and thyme were also prominent. Finally, this whisky supplied a slew of nuts, specifically walnuts and peanuts.

My opinion. 🗣️ - An amazing expression that is filled with great flavours throughout, this is definitely a new favourite for me. In regard to the price, I personally think It's a little questionable, but I understand why.
