White Peak releases new Small Batch for loyal Wire Works Whisky followers
Derbyshire’s first ever single malt whisky Distillery - White Peak – is launching a second expression of its Small Batch Wire Works Whisky this autumn, after receiving top industry awards for the previous batch over the summer.
The latest in the Small Batch series is bottled at a higher ABV than its summer sibling, coming in at 47.7% and will be a limited-edition Distillery and trade release, with just over 4,200 bottles available from 20th October. As well as the UK, the Small Batch releases are also available in both Germany and Italy.
Matured in a combination of ex-bourbon and White Peak’s signature STR casks (re-conditioned casks that have been shaved, toasted and re-charred), it is lightly-peated with the fruit-forward characteristics found in the Wire Works Whisky range. Approachable yet complex, with a delicious flavour profile combining orchard fruits, vanilla butter fudge and fruitcake on the nose, with tobacco, bitter orange marmalade and cereal on the palate and a smoke, spice and sweet vanilla finish.
White Peak Distillery was founded in 2016 by husband-and-wife team Max & Claire Vaughan - both originally from Derbyshire – and continues to go from strength to strength, having won awards not only for its whisky but also for its Distillery visitor experiences and, more recently, the Wire Works Whisky packaging.
Derbyshire’s first full-scale craft Distillery released just over 5,000 numbered bottles of its long-awaited inaugural single malt, Wire Works Whisky, at the beginning of February. The whisky received an extraordinary response from the Distillery’s loyal followers and supporters, selling out in just a few hours.
Just 4,251 bottles of this next Wire Works Whisky Small Batch will be released and be available via the White Peak Distillery online shop and in-person from the Distillery’s shop. RRP: £60 (70cl). The release will also be available from selected trade partners including Master of Malt, Selfridges and The Whisky Exchange. Small Batch is the first of the White Peak releases to be available in other European markets, now available from Pinkernells in Germany (www.pinkernells-shop.de) and Rossi & Rossi in Italy (www.rossiandrossi.it).
