Tamdhu Unveils the Quercus Alba Distinction Series' Third Release

Tamdhu Quercus Alba - Distinction III

After two incredibly sought after award-winning releases, Tamdhu Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky has today unveiled the third limited-edition batch release - Quercus Alba Distinction III.

Tamdhu is the only Scotch whisky brand to exclusively fully mature in only European and American oak Oloroso sherry casks. The latest bottling from the Speyside distiller continues to celebrate the unmistakable characteristics of first-fill American oak Oloroso sherry cask maturation.

The Quercus Alba Distinction series has a unique journey that all three limited editions have followed. Their story begins in the oak forests of North America before being imported into Spain, where these casks are carefully crafted in the ‘sherry triangle’ over the course of six years.

The staves are left to air dry in the Mediterranean sun before being assembled and toasted by experienced coopers. Finally, the Oloroso sherry seasoning takes place before the casks final long journey to travel to Tamdhu. The result of the combination of cask and spirit imparts vanilla and rich fruit flavours, along with a wonderfully natural amber colour.

On the nose, Quercus Alba Distinction III delivers delicious shortbread dipped in vanilla cream, with sharp citrus and peppermint flavours. A rich soft oak coats the palate giving way to plums and chocolate limes. To finish, decadent dried cherries, with hints of honeycomb.

Sandy McIntyre, Tamdhu Distillery Manager, said: “This series truly celebrates the very best in American Oak Oloroso Sherry casks and we’re excited to release the third expression in this collection.”

Bottles of Tamdhu Quercus Alba Distinction III are available to purchase exclusively from specialist retailers in the UK, USA, Germany, China, Netherlands and Australia. U.K. RRP £70.00 per 70cl bottle (48% ABV).
